Kadle Bele Holige Recipe in Kannada (ಬೆಳೆ ಹೋಳಿಗೆ)

Bele Holige Recipe

ನಮಸ್ಕಾರಾ 🙏

Original Kadle Bele Holige Recipe of Karnataka

The biggest advantage of home cooking is “healthy food”, especially when it comes to traditional Indian sweet dishes.

Bele Holige (ಬೆಳೆ ಒಬ್ಬಟ್ಟು/ಹೋಳಿಗೆ) is one such extraordinary recipe of India.

Originally, Obbattu / Holige were prepared on a metal sheet. Due to unavailability of the Metal sheets people have switched over to plastic or paper sheets as paper sheets are easily available.

Your Holige can be significantly different if you prepare them using the metal sheets, just apply oil to sheets before rolling your Holige as shown in the video.

Mistakes to avoid while cooking Bele Holige

  • DO NOT overcook the dal (kadle bele), it will be very difficult to filter out the water if you over cook the dal.
  • DO NOT use baking papers, instead, use the Metal sheet. This will ensure your Holige are very thin, which is the key for excellent texture of your Holige.
  • MAKE SURE the cooked dal is blended to a smooth paste texture, it not, your Holige will not be soft.
  • DO NOT refrigerate the Holige / Obbattu. Serve HOT, eat HOT.
  • Cook your holige on Medium flame, this is very important to ensure perfectly well-cooked, soft Holige.
